Getting Started

LET'S TALK

Before agreeing to any services, I like us to actually talk about the event you’re planning to get a better sense of what is most important to you. This helps us both figure out what services will be the best fit. 

 

QUOTE AND AGREEMENT

Based on this conversation, I'll send you a detailed quote. If you decide to work with me, all I need is an email saying as much and you'll be locked in. No need to sign a contract or make a deposit. I trust you!

Before the Event

COLLABORATION 
Once you decide to hire me, I will consult with you regularly to ensure that what I'm putting together will meet your needs, wants and expectations. When it comes to music, I like to collaborate with event participants to request songs between now until the day event. This typically happens through twitter, text or a QR code you can place on event invitations, posters or flyers. I also like to collaborate directly with you through collaborative playlists on Spotify. 

 

SET UP
I typically like to start setting up at least 3 hours before the event starts. This gives me enough time to set up, test, and deal with any last-minute surprises (Ask me about this some time if you want a good laugh).

During the Event

Here is where you just get to enjoy yourself while I carry you and your crowd on a memorable musical journey through positive high-energy dance music! 

REQUESTS

If you want guests to request songs during the event, then they can text me, tweet me, snap me or scan a QR code. This helps me track and screen everything.

WHAT I DO

When I’m “up there” DJing, my time and attention are focused on... 

  • Assembling the playlist for the evening

  • Receiving requests from the crowd

  • Screening requests 

  • Incorporating requests

  • “Reading” the crowd and pivoting the musical direction as needed

  • Monitoring the quality of the audio (volume, tone, etc)

  • Monitoring the performance of DJ lighting/effects

  • Managing the presentation of visuals/videos (If this service is purchased)

  • Leading activities, games, contests (If desired)

  • Interacting with the crowd to generate excitement/participation 

  • Posting to social media (depending on available connection) 

WHAT I DON'T DO

As I attend to the activities listed above, I expect the event hosts/sponsors  to be responsible for the following: 

  • Monitoring crowd behavior and enforcing event or venue rules/standards

  • Chaperoning (for events involving minors)

  • Ensuring the safety of event participants 

  • Announcing event-specific logistics outside of my activities listed above unless otherwise agreed to 

  • Providing for any additional event-specific needs outside of my activities listed above (e.g. decorations, food, venue-specific lighting, etc) unless otherwise agreed to

After The Event

BREAK DOWN

It takes me about 90 minutes to wrap everything up and leave. I usually play music (At no extra charge) during this time so anyone else who is tasked with cleaning up after can do so with a song in their step.

INVOICING & PAYMENT

After the event, I will send you an invoice which is typically due within 30 days. It's worth noting that I do not expect payment from you until after I've provided services. I work this way mainly because I simply trust you. I also work this way in case any changes to my services are needed at the last minute (e.g. you need me to play longer/shorter). Checks should be made out to DJMJD, LLC
